2012- 2013: DIY Space:

Initially founded in 2012, Canvas began as a DIY studio and event space in Wicker Park, Chicago, IL.   With the help of key early contributors, the space became a focal point of the underground art and music scene in Chicago in the early to mid 2010's.  The events held in the space in it's early years became a platform for growth and collaboration of a diverse network of creatives, and the launching off point for many successful artists and producers.  This group of young creatives organically formed a powerful network of complimentary visual artists, technicians, designers, musicians, producers, writers, videographers, photographers, and installations artists.

2013 - 2018 Immersive Event Concepts:

As this network of creatives continued to develop and learn from one another, the community began to collaborate on home grown immersive event concepts. These concepts, like Voyager, Sub Chroma, and Primer, pulled together and unified a wide range of artistic elements, and presented them to the public in avante garde ways, and often in unexpected venues.   These exhibitions went on to scale from 250 person affairs to large scale productions that had thousands of attendees and were covered by local, national, and international press.  For archives on some of these threshold pushing events, take a look here.

2017- 2018: Client Work:

Along with the attention and growth of some of their creative productions came opportunities to leverage the skills and abilities of the members of the Canvas network on client production projects including Teach For America, Red Bull, Capital One, Rolling Stone Magazine and many more.

2018-2020 Hiatus and Digital Development:

In the fall of 2018, after a successful season of curating and producing Chicago's ACTIVATE series along with The Loop Alliance, the organization had reached a natural zenith in it's story arc, and leadership decided to put the public productions on hiatus while the organization focused on developing it’s client focused marketing capabilities.

2020:

In early 2020, eager to re-engage in creative production and immersive design, Canvas began work on a new series of publicly promoted event concepts including SAIDEIRA and Future Galerie.  Along with these productions mentioned above, Canvas 2020 is more streamlined, business focused, endeavor that intends to balance client projects (CONSULT Studio) with the development of uncommon cultural experiences and projects that are designed for public consumption. (CULTURE Studio).
