Chicago has had a history of transforming art and music into creative collectives through common causes and inspirations – this is why a Canvas community member was able to volunteer their time for the Sid Feldman Legacy Fund Non-for-Profit to create Legacy Night- a fundraiser using art, music and the opportunity to help an organization better Chicago through education on October 26th.
Sid Feldman Legacy Fund aims to break the systematic barriers placed on the Chicago Public School system by providing scholarship opportunities to underprivileged CPS students who are eligible to attend a higher education institution but have financial obstacles getting in the way.
On October 26th at DJ Fire Aux’s event space at 3332 North Ave will be hosting Legacy Night- a fundraiser supporting the Sid Feldman Legacy Fund. Join us in celebrating education through art and music with performances by Groovy Louie and The Time Capsules, Warik, Catfish and the Dogstars and Canvas’ very own DJ Fire Aux.
Groovy Louie and The Time Capsules provide grooves that make you move along with genuine improvisation designed to take your further. Warik performs poetic lyrics with loop effects to transform jangled pop art rock. Catfish and the Dogstars just released their newest album, The Shell, that takes listeners through thoughtfully guided rock and roll. DJ Fire Aux works tirelessly to connect sub-genres together to create unique sounds.
Not only will these talented musicians and bands be supporting the community but some creative local visual artists will be decorating the walls with paintings, prints, Chicago photography, handmade jewelry and art installations.
There are raffles from Chicago local businesses supporting our mission to further scholarship opportunities to CPS students, as well as a costume contest with a prize of up to $50.
All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Sid Feldman Legacy Fund and their cause to help aid students to receive bachelor’s degrees.
To learn more about the organization, the event, musicians and artists RSVP on Facebook and stay tune for more updates on Legacy Night.
